The Acting Secretary General will present the first
examples of the new NATO medal during a ceremony at NATO
Headquarters on 27 November 1995. The medal will be
presented to recipients from fourteen Alliance
nations to mark service in operations related to the
former Yugoslavia.
Each country which has played an active part in these
operations will provide recipients representing a
cross-section of the ranks and services involved. The
ceremony will be attended by NATO Ambassadors, the
Chiefs of the Defence Staffs of the NATO nations, and
Major NATO Commanders.
ACCREDITATION
Media will be allowed into the NATO Press Service area on
presentation of a valid press card. Space will be
reserved for cameras and photographers. Due to space
limitation, only a restricted pool will be able
to cover the ceremony, and media representatives wishing
to cover the event should send their request by fax to:
02-728 50 57. Pool cards will be distributed at NATO's
accreditation desk (NATO Press Service) on 27 November at
10:00 to those having been selected on an equitable
basis.
PROGRAMME
11:30 - Honour Guard and Band take up position.
11:35 - Recipients take up position.
11:40 - Media have taken up their position.
11:45 - Guests arrive. All to be in position by 11:50.
11:55 - CHODS (Chiefs of Defence) and MNCs take up
position.
11:57 - Permanent Representatives take up position.
12:00 - Acting Secretary General arrives, accompanied by
Chairman of the Military Committee. General
salute.
12:02 - Reading of Citation for the NATO medal for the
Former Yugoslavia.
12:05 - Presentation of medals by Acting Secretary
General, assisted by CHODS.
12:20 - Address by Acting Secretary General.
12:25 - End of presentation ceremony. VIPs, guests,
recipients and families leave for reception.
