Coronavirus response: NATO provides personal protective equipment to Tunisia in response to COVID-19 pandemic

Tunisia has received 4880 kilograms of personal protective equipment from the NATO Pandemic Response Stockpile. This includes surgical masks, face shields, and hooded coveralls, and follows Tunisia’s request for international assistance to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
The delivery was coordinated by the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC), NATO’s main civil emergency response mechanism. The Centre operates 24/7, coordinating requests and offers of assistance, including medical and financial support.
The Personal Protective Equipment will be distributed to military and civilian medical facilities across the country. This donation complements NATO’s EADRCC support delivered to Tunisia in 2021, which included 100,000 FFP2 masks, 15,000 disposable coveralls, and 10 ventilators. Additional medical equipment will be delivered to Tunisia in the near future, including ventilators for Intensive Care Units and emergencies.
The NATO Pandemic Response Trust Fund and Stockpile, established in June 2020, have provided multiple tranches of COVID-related support to Allies and partners in need. The assistance has enhanced the preparedness and resilience of the beneficiaries’ health systems and strengthened national inventories with modern medical equipment to tackle the pandemic.
