Генеральний секретар Єнс Столтенберг в середу, 29 червня 2022 року, привітав на саміті НАТО в Мадриді Президента США Джо Байдена. Генеральний секретар подякував Президентові Байдену за його «рішуче лідерство і зміцнення трансатлантичного зв’язку» в часи російської війни проти України, продемонстроване оголошеним Президентом подальшим збільшенням американської присутності в Європі.

Пан Столтенберг також подякував Президентові Байдену за «непохитну підтримку», яку Сполучені Штати надають Україні і сказав, що він очікує на історичний і трансформаційний саміт.
