В субботу (19 декабря) первый из пяти беспилотных летательных аппаратов (БПЛА) «Глобал Хоук» осуществил первый успешный полет в Калифорнии. БПЛА Системы воздушного наблюдения НАТО, совершив взлет с авиабазы Палмдейл, успешно поднялся на высоту 40 000 футов и два с половиной часа спустя приземлился на авиабазе ВВС Эдвардс.
