В четверг (4 июня 2015 г.) первый из пяти беспилотных летательных аппаратов НАТО сошел с конвейера в Сан-Диего. «Глобал Хоук» вариант «Блок 40» является частью Системы воздушного наблюдения НАТО за наземной обстановкой. Этот основной потенциал, принадлежащий НАТО и эксплуатируемый ей, позволит Североатлантическому союзу осуществлять постоянное наблюдение за обширными районами с высотных беспилотных летательных аппаратов с большой продолжительностью полетов в любых световых и погодных условиях. Данная система предоставит командирам комплексную картину обстановки на местах.
