Directors responsible for security policy from Allied Foreign Affairs ministries and invitee Sweden met in Romania from 9 to 10 October 2023 to address current security challenges facing the Alliance.
The discussions were chaired by NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Boris Ruge, and included Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Black Sea security, and foreign interference and disinformation in NATO’s southern neighbourhood. Representatives from the European Union also joined some of the discussions.
During their programme in Bucharest and Constanţa, the National Security Policy Directors also visited key air and naval force facilities in Romania helping to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence activities on its eastern flank.
