Генеральний секретар НАТО Єнс Столтенберг у вівторок, 28 лютого 2023 року, відвідав Гельсінкі для зустрічі з вищим керівництвом і участі в Нордичному саміті SAMAK. У своєму виступі разом з Прем’єр-міністром Санною Марін пан Столтенберг високо оцінив «потужну підтримку, яку Фінляндія надає Україні в цей критичний момент російської агресивної війни. Щодо членства в НАТО, він сказав, що «вже час ратифікувати і повною мірою привітати і Фінляндію, і Швецію як членів» Альянсу.
