Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Belgrade on Thursday (19 November 2015) for talks with Serbia’s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and other senior government officials.
Mr. Stoltenberg was welcomed by the prime minister and an honour guard at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport on arrival. During his two day visit, the Secretary General will discuss NATO-Serbia relations and current security challenges in meetings with Prime Minister Vučić, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ivica Dačić, Defence Minister Bratislav Gašić and other high level officials.
The Secretary General will conclude his visit by delivering opening remarks at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Belgrade and take questions from students.
The visit also has a personal meaning for Mr. Stoltenberg, who spent several years of his childhood in Belgrade, where his father was posted as a Norwegian diplomat.
