Every day tens of thousands of ISAF and Afghan troops and police are fighting side by side across the country. They share the same goal of a stable Afghanistan where terrorists can never again find safe haven.
Tragically, there has been a recent increase in the number of attacks from within this partnership. While there are differing motives for these attacks, they represent a real concern for NATO commanders. The Commander of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, US General John Allen has made this issue a top priority. An extensive range of measures has been put into place in close coordination with the Afghan authorities to reduce the threat to ISAF troops.
