A workshop on warning and detection procedures for the protection of populations against dangers such as radiation, took place on 13-14 February 2002 in Bucharest, Romania. The aim of the workshop was to introduce and practice the use of Alliance Technical Procedures on Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warning and Reporting Systems and prepare Partner countries in using NATO formats.
The workshop was attended by 22 experts on warning and detection systems from 14 NATO and Partner countries. It was conducted by NATO's Security Investment, Logistics and Civil Emergency Planning (SILCEP) Group of Experts on Warning and Detection Systems (GOEWDS), in cooperation with the NATO (SHAPE) School, Oberammergau, Germany. This annual event prepared participants for the upcoming GOEWDS exercise which will be held on 16 March 2002.
