"Law, Morality and the Use of Force" was the title of a speech delivered by NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson at the Institut des Relations Internationales et Stratégiques (IRIS) in Paris on 16 May.
Lord Robertson emphasised the legal and moral founding to NATO's intervention in Kosovo last year, while stressing that this had not transformed the Alliance into a world policeman: "Is NATO becoming the policeman of the world, using military force at will in defence of its own concept of morality? The answer, from NATO's perspective, is very clear: a resounding no. [...] ...Kosovo represented a unique circumstance".
