‘We learned a lot from the Ukrainians and their experience from the war and also how we can implement that at home as well and most important, how we can implement that and give them the best education right here, so we train as realistic as possible. So we take their experience and apply it in order to make these scenarios realistic for their training in England.
I think it’s going really fast and what we learn from the Ukrainians, it could be one day to the other, what methods that work, that doesn’t work. How to always take new measures and be innovative, in order to always be one step ahead of the enemy. So that’s something we bring home, absolutely. The importance of being able to be dynamic.
We really emphasise the importance of the effects. We use a lot of blank ammunition, water balloons to simulate grenades dropping from the drones, a lot of smoke, and even sound boxes in order to simulate sounds, in order to make it as realistic as possible in order for the training to be well preparing.
SOUNDBITE IN UKRAINIAN,
Ukrainian drone pilot, Anon
(03:45) Today we have practised air assault operations and counter-attack on trenches. (0:09) We used drones of different types, from reconnaissance to strike ones. (0:15) I believe that the training went very well.
(0:19) We have practised many aspects. (0:21) I am saying this for a general understanding of what is happening now on the battlefield. (0:27) This is very important for our soldiers, I will explain why.
(0:31) Because there are a lot of drones on the front line now. (0:36) There are loads of them, and they fly around 24/7. (0:40) The enemy scouts are flying overhead. (0:42) There are also strike drones.
(0:43) And, in fact, drones are the first thing that trainees will have to deal with on the battlefield. (0:49) A person must have a very high level of patience, (0:54) because missions take a lot of time and the pilot must be patient. (0:58) No hasty steps.
(1:02) Everything must be thought over a hundred times before being done. (1:08) One also has to have a constant desire to develop in terms of technical skills. (1:15) I believe that, in fact, the skills should be the same as that of a good sniper.
(1:26) I am driven by my people, my country. (1:28) I don't want the enemy walking over my land. (1:31) I don't want the land to be taken away from me.
(1:35) It is worth it. (1:39) I believe that NATO countries really need to study our experience, (1:45) which we can share with our partners, and take it into account. (1:55) We have the experience of the modern war.
(1:58) We understand how it all works. (2:02) And how, in fact, the technology is being developed now. (2:06) Because the battlefield has changed a lot.
