Major Andreas Hultgren, Norwegian Army
‘This NATO environment keeps us one edge, it keeps us with the English working language. It keeps us, with training with other units, other nations, and learning from other people's experiences. Always some challenging stuff when it comes to like, what does this word mean for you and for me? But in the end, we're basically speaking the same language. So, it's very interesting to plan, to conduct tactical operations with the NATO.
It's about training together. We do come from different units, and bringing them all together here during this exercise makes us stronger together. And it's also about conducting reassurance missions with the Lithuanian partners and, with the current situation in the world, deter potential threats. And the tactical scenario is defence. So, if push comes to shove, this is what we're here for.’

Lieutenant Colonel Malte Bolanz, Commander Battlegroup Lithuania, German Armed Forces
‘It was very nice to participate in this exercise. The Iron Wolf Brigade conducted an exercise for the whole brigade, and that's definitely a special exercise. Why? Because they implemented almost all battalions of their brigade. That means in one training area, at least two battalions and three coys [companies] trained for 14 days. They trained defensive operations.
They conducted a forward passage of lines. They conducted defence operations and they conducted also a counter-attack implemented in a defence operation. Together with this airdrop of the 173rd from the US, which we just saw here in the training area, it was a brilliant exercise to show everybody in the NATO that all these nations, if it is necessary, can work and can fight together.
We trained defence operations. So, we trained, if Lithuania will be attacked by an enemy, that we are ready to fight and ready to defend Lithuania.
So, defence operations on group, on platoon, on coy and in the end, on battlegroup level. Together with our Lithuanian partners, we showed the whole time also during the Iron Wolf exercise, that we are always ready to defend Lithuania and together with our partners, once again, it was really a brilliant exercise to show that all NATO partners can work and can fight together.’
