Сегодня (4 апреля 2023 г.), когда в Брюсселе будет проходить встреча министров иностранных дел стран НАТО, Финляндия станет 31-м членом Североатлантического союза. «В этот самый день, в 1949 году, в Вашингтоне был подписан Вашингтонский договор, основополагающий договор НАТО, и трудно представить лучший способ отметить нашу годовщину, чем принять Финляндию в качестве полноправного члена Североатлантического союза», – сказал Генеральный секретарь Йенс Столтенберг. Делая предварительный обзор встречи министров иностранных дел, Генеральный секретарь сказал, что государства-члены рассмотрят поддержку, которую НАТО оказывает Украине, вызовы безопасности, исходящие с Ближнего Востока и Северной Африки, важность увеличения оборонных инвестиций и партнерские отношения НАТО со странами Индо-Тихоокеанского региона.
