Заступник Генерального секретаря Мірча Джоане у вівторок, 28 травня 2024 року, зустрівся в штаб-квартирі НАТО з міністром оборони Мавританії Ганана Улд Сіді для обговорення розвитку відносин між НАТО і Мавританією. Заступник Генерального секретаря Джоане підкреслив, що «Мавританія – цінний партнер», і що союзники «налаштовані просувати наше партнерство далі, зокрема, зміцнюючи сили Мавританії в боротьбі проти тероризму».
