Північноатлантична рада, до якої входять посли усіх 29 країн – членів НАТО, збереться в п’ятницю, 28 лютого, на прохання Туреччини провести консультації згідно зі статтею 4 Основоположного Вашингтонського договору НАТО щодо ситуації в Сирії.
Згідно зі статтею 4 Договору будь-який член Альянсу може попросити про проведення консультацій в будь-який час, якщо він вважає, що існує загроза його територіальній цілісності, політичній незалежності або безпеці.
