Thirty two Allied Chiefs of Defence discussed NATO’s vigilance & deterrence, continued support to Ukraine, and preparations for the NATO Summit in The Hague in June. The final meeting of the day saw the Ukrainian Chief of Defence, General Sikyrsky, join the NATO-Ukraine Council virtually from Kyiv. |

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits the United States of America Washington D.C., 5 to 8 May 2025 – The Chair of the NATO Military Committee (CMC), Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, participated in a series of high-level strategic meetings in the US, exchanging ideas with military leadership from US and across the Alliance, as well as political and civil society leaders from around the world. During the visit, he also paid homage to the American service members who lay at rest in Arlington National Cemetery. |

NATO and the Republic of Korea strengthen their cooperation at the military staff talks in Seoul On 12 May 2025, a military delegation from NATO, led by Brigadier-General Ungüder Eray, Deputy Director of the Cooperative Security Division, NATO International Military Staff (IMS), met with their counterparts from the Republic of Korea, headed by Major General Kwon Young Min, in Seoul. The military staff talks aim at strengthening the practical military cooperation between NATO and the Korean Defence Forces. |

NATO reinforces military partnership with Japan during the military staff talks held in Tokyo From 9 to 10 May 2025, NATO’s delegation of military experts, led by Brigadier-General Ungüder Eray, Deputy Director of the Cooperative Security Division, NATO International Military Staff, travelled to Tokyo for military staff talks with their Japanese counterparts, headed by General Shirai Ryoji. The talks provided an opportunity to reinforce and deepen the already ongoing military cooperation between the Alliance and Japan, as well as to highlight the analogies between the challenges faced by the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific regions. |

NATO’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood wraps up his visit to Kuwait NATO’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood, Mr Javier Colomina, travelled to Kuwait on 8 May 2025, for the first time in his new capacity. He met with high level officials from Kuwait, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. He also participated in an event organised by the NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative Regional Centre on “Security cooperation, partnerships, and NATO in light of an evolving geopolitical landscape in the Gulf,” which featured a discussion with the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations, His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Jarallah, moderated by Dr Bader Al Saif from Kuwait University. |
