Останнім часом Республіка Сербія зазнає значного припливу біженців. Ці біженці, в основному з Афганістану і Сирії, рухаються через Сербію в напрямку Хорватії і Угорщини емігрантськими маршрутами до Північної і Західної Європи. З початку 2015 року понад 500 тисяч осіб прибули до Сербії з колишньої Югославської республіки Македонія1. Потік нових біженців цим маршрутом становить, за оцінками, від чотирьох до п’яти тисяч осіб на день. Серед них багато жінок і дітей.
