Chair of the NATO Military Committee commends Portugal for its global security vision From 20 to 23 January 2023, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer was in Portugal, at the invitation of the Portuguese Chief of Defence, Admiral António Silva Ribeiro. During the visit, Admiral Bauer attended a military ceremony, with Admiral Silva Ribeiro, before heading to the Joint Command for Military Operations. He also met with the Portuguese Minister of Defence, Mrs Helena Carreiras. |
28 Oct. 2022 | ![]() | On 27 and 28 October 2022, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Bauer was in Serbia, where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of Defence, Miloš Vučević, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, the Acting Assistant Minister of Defence Policy, Predrag Bandić, and the Chief of Defence, General Milan Mojsilović. He also visited the NATO Military Liaison Office and gave a lecture at the University of Defence Military Academy. Throughout the visit, Admiral Bauer was accompanied by Colonel Milan Ranković, the Serbian Military Representative and Head of the Mission to NATO. |

First Chair of the Military Committee to attend Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference From 25 to 27 July 2022, Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the Military Committee attended the 24th annual Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference in Australia. On the sidelines of the conference, he met with NATO Partners’ Chiefs of Defence of Australia, Japan and Mongolia, the Vice-Chief of Defence of the Republic of Korea as well as the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command. |
01 Jul. 2022 | ![]() | From 30 June to 1 July 2022, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, stayed in Spain, following the NATO Summit, to meet with His Majesty King Felipe VI, Spanish Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles Fernández, and the Spanish Chief of Defence, Admiral López Calderón. The Chair also visited the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Spain (NRDC-ESP), where he met with its Commander, Lieutenant General Fernando Garcia-Vaquero, and gave a lecture. |
17 Jun. 2022 | ![]() | On 17 June 2022, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, visited Finland upon the invitation of the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen. Admiral Bauer met with the Finnish President, Mr. Sauli Niinistö, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pekka Haavisto, and Finland’s Minister of Defence, Mr. Antti Kaikkonen. He also visited the Finnish Navy Command and the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats. |
27 May. 2022 | ![]() | From 25 to 28 May 2022, Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the NATO Military Committee paid an official visit to Croatia upon the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Admiral Robert Hranj. During the visit, he met with the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Zoran Milanovic, the Prime Minister, Mr. Andrej Plenkovic, the Minister of Defence, PhD Mr. Mario Banozic, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, PhD Mr. Gordan Grlic Radman. He also met with high-level Croatian military officials, as well as the President and members of the Parliament Defence Committee. The Chair took the opportunity while in Croatia to visit the Croatian Defence Academy where he delivered a lecture to staff and students. |

Chair of the Military Committee visits the Republic of Korea From 9 to 12 April 2022 the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, visited the Republic of Korea to discuss the partnership between the Republic of Korea and NATO and how both parties can foster closer military cooperation. |
04 Apr. 2022 | ![]() | On Monday 4 April 2022, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee sent out a message to Allied troops in commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the North Atlantic treaty Organisation. In his message Admiral Bauer praised the 3.2 million men and women in uniform for the work they do to keep Allied citizens safe. Together, they form a unique ‘band of brothers and sisters’.
