Я вітаю проведення президентських і муніципальних виборів у колишній Югославській Республіці Македонія¹, які, за даними ОБСЄ, були на загал позитивними, мирними і добре організованими.

Ці вибори доводять, що колишня Югославська Республіка Македонія¹, готуючись до членства в НАТО, досягла значних успіхів у запровадженні високих стандартів демократії, притаманних Альянсу.

На своєму саміті у Страсбурзі і Келі минулого тижня глави держав і урядів знову підтвердили свою згоду запросити колишню Югославську Республіку Македонія¹ до членства, як тільки в рамках ООН буде знайдено взаємно прийнятне розв’язання питання її назви, і закликали до інтенсифікації зусиль в цьому напрямі. Я задоволений тим, що новообраний президент Джордже Іванов заявив, що зробить розв’язання питання назви своїм першорядним завданням.

  1. Туреччина визнає Республіку Македонія за її конституційною назвою.
