From 10 October to 13 November, we invite you to share with us your views on how the Alliance's role in cyber defence contributes to your security.
"We want to know how our audiences perceive the link between NATO's work and their own security. Whether they are cyber defence experts, students in computer science, international law, international relations and other related fields or simply people that are interested in the topic of cyber defence, we would like to have their opinion about how NATO impacts their daily lives. This is what this competition is all about." says Antonella Cerasino, Head, NATO Countries Section in NATO's Public Diplomacy Division in charge of this innovative project.
The best entries from each NATO country will be invited for a special visit to NATO Headquarters in Brussels on 28 November, where they will be given the chance to meet with NATO officials for an exclusive exchange of views on the Alliance’s role in cyber defence as well as its new security challenges in the 21st century.
Earlier this year, a revised NATO Policy on Cyber Defence was approved – a policy that sets out a clear vision for efforts in cyber defence throughout the Alliance. The revised policy offers a coordinated approach to cyber defence across the Alliance with a focus on preventing cyber attacks and building resilience. All NATO structures will be brought under centralised protection, and new cyber defence requirements will be applied. The policy clarifies political and operational mechanisms of NATO’s response to cyber attacks, and integrates cyber defence into NATO’s Defence Planning Process.
It also sets out the framework for how NATO will assist Allies, upon request, in their own cyber defence efforts, with the aim to optimise information sharing and situational awareness, collaboration and secure interoperability based on NATO agreed standards. Finally, the policy sets the principles on NATO’s cyber defence cooperation with partner countries, international organisations, the private sector and academia.
