Train the trainer course for CBRN first responders
NATO launches a train the trainer course in the field of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) first response in Kuopio, Finland, from 12-16 October. The aim of the programme is to familiarise participants with the International CBRN training curriculum and enable them to train existing and future first responders.
This course is conducted in the framework of the Non-Binding Guidelines and Minimum Standards project for CBRN first responders - a package of tools to help national authorities in planning and responding to CBRN incidents.
During the training, participants learn to implement the curriculum at national level, to improve national civil emergency plans and to enhance civil-military cooperation during incidents. They also learn how to enhance interoperability among first responders in international response to disasters.
In parallel, a seminar for directors wishing to establish regional training centres in the CBRN field is organized. The concept seeks to multiply the possibilities for similar train the trainers courses on a regional basis, and is offered to Allies and Partners for implementation through existing training centre networks.
The Kuopio course and seminar bring together over thirty participants from NATO Allies and Partners, including from Mediterranean Dialogue and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative countries.
