Director General of the NATO International Military Staff visits Uzbekistan

From 4 to 7 October 2023, the Director General of the NATO International Military Staff (DGIMS), Lieutenant General Janusz Adamczak was in Uzbekistan. This visit aimed to restate NATO‘s ongoing engagement and cooperation with Uzbekistan, particularly against a backdrop of evolving regional security dynamics.

Uzbek officers graduate from English language course

Graduation certificates were presented on 27 March 2017 to 25 Uzbek officers, who had completed an intensive 250-hour long Military English Language Course conducted by the British Council in Tashkent. The course was co-sponsored by the British Embassy and the NATO Liaison Office in Central Asia, aimed at developing general English skills and equipping students with military terminology that would allow them to participate in training and exercises organised by NATO or its member states.

Central Asian experts discuss energy security issues

A conference entitled “25 Years of Independence: Energy Security Issues in Central Asia and Beyond” took place in Ashgabat on 14-15 December 2016 with the participation of experts from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The event in Turkmenistan provided an opportunity to reflect on security challenges and regional cooperation strategies in particular in the energy sector.

Uzbek officers graduate from NATO-sponsored language course

A first group of Uzbek officers graduated from a pilot English language course on 24 March, which was launched last year for Uzbekistan’s defence ministry by the NATO Liaison Office in Central Asia.

The NATO Liaison Officer for Central Asia Rosaria Puglisi met the Uzbek Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov and Minister of Defence Kabul Berdiev on 10 and 12 February. They discussed ongoing collaboration between the Alliance and Uzbekistan and examined ways to enhance the relationship in 2016.
