Central Asian and Afghan students discuss peace and security in Tajikistan The 11th Central Asian Regional Summer Diplomatic Course (Summer Academy) took place from 7 to 11 July in Romit, Tajikistan. This year’s theme, “Partnership for Peace: Common Interests and Challenges in Central Asia”, focused on socio-political developments in the region, possible future security scenarios, the role of international organisations and the benefits of partnership. |

NATO and UNODC launch counter-narcotics training in Central Asia NATO and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) announced the launch of a new NATO counter-narcotics training project at a conference in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in May 2015. The project involves five Central Asian states -- Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan -- as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan. It follows up on a similar initiative developed under the umbrella of the NATO-Russia Council which was suspended in the wake of Russian aggressive action in Ukraine. |

Tajikistan signs the Partnership for Peace Framework Document Tajikistan signed today the Partnership for Peace (PfP) Framework Document, becoming the 27th country of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council to join the Partnership for Peace Programme. The Framework Document was signed by the Ambassador of Tajikistan, Mr. Sharif Rahimov, during a meeting at NATO's Headquarters with the North Atlantic Council. |
