Admiral Cavo Dragone takes over from Admiral Bauer as Chair of the NATO Military Committee Today, 17 January 2025, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone assumed the role of Chair of the NATO Military Committee, officially receiving the gavel from his predecessor, Admiral Rob Bauer, during a special session of the Military Committee. Prior to the session, Admiral Bauer laid a wreath at the Danish Memorial Stone, which honours those who have fallen in the service of the Alliance. |

Allied and Partner Chiefs of Defence meet to discuss deterrence and defence On 15-16 January 2025, the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session took place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. 32 Allied Chiefs of Defence together with their military counterparts from 27 Partners discussed NATO’s vigilance & deterrence, strengthening military partnerships, and continued support to Ukraine. The two-day session was finalised by the NATO-Ukraine Council with the Ukrainian Chief of Defence. |

Allied Chiefs of Defence meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte Today and tomorrow, 15 - 16 January 2025, NATO's highest Military Authority, the Military Committee, meets in Chiefs of Defence format at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The meeting focuses on further strengthening deterrence and defence of the Alliance, strengthening NATO’s Partnerships around the world as well as supporting Ukraine in its resistance against Russia’s unprovoked aggression. Across both days, Allied Chiefs of Defence will meet with Military Authorities from NATO Partner countries to discuss how to best tackle pervasive instability around the globe together. |

Colonel Fatih Akgul, chairperson of the Committee presided over the meeting. |
08 Nov. 2024 | ![]() | From 4 to 8 November 2024, the NATO Military Committee was in Qatar for a series of high-level engagements and visits of Qatar’s military education and training facilities. This visit marked the first time the NATO Military Committee travelled to Qatar. The high-level engagements that took place during the visit involved the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, H.E. Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel Al-Nabit. The goal of the visit was to discuss ongoing and future strategic and operational cooperation between Qatar and NATO. |

The NATO Chiefs of Defence met in Prague to implement Washington summit decisions At the invitation of Lieutenant General Karel Řehka, Chief of the Czech Armed Forces, the Allied Chiefs of Defence gathered in Prague from 13 to 15 September 2024 for their annual Military Committee Conference. On the agenda was the implementation of the decisions taken at the Washington Summit in July 2024. The Chiefs of Defence discussed how NATO will bolster its deterrence and defence while at the same time ramping up its support for Ukraine. |
