Students from NATO partner countries attend civil emergency planning training Under the aegis of NATO’s Civil Emergency Planning activities, a training course for first responders to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) incidents was held at the Republican Study-Methodological Centre of Civil Protection, Committee for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 30 May to 3 June 2016. The course took place for the third year in a row and welcomed 15 students from seven NATO partner countries. |

NATO and UNODC launch counter-narcotics training in Central Asia NATO and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) announced the launch of a new NATO counter-narcotics training project at a conference in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in May 2015. The project involves five Central Asian states -- Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan -- as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan. It follows up on a similar initiative developed under the umbrella of the NATO-Russia Council which was suspended in the wake of Russian aggressive action in Ukraine. |
