NATO launches training effort in Iraq

NATO launched a new training programme in Iraq on Sunday (5 February 2017), teaching Iraqi security forces to counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). Around 30 enlisted soldiers are participating in the first five-week course. ''NATO's training and capacity building in Iraq is strengthening the country's ability to fight ISIL and provide for its own security,'' said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Non-lethal weapons: new technologies to preserve lives

NATO sponsored a Non-Lethal Technology Exercise organised by Belgium from 19 to 30 September 2016 to practise the use and assess the military utility of non-lethal weapons in land operations.

NATO sponsors critical infrastructure protection technology demonstration

NATO hosts briefing on improvised explosive device

The fifth ISAF Improvised Explosive Device (IED) briefing took place from 24 to 25 November at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Participants from NATO and Partner troop contributing nations to ISAF met to exchange information on the current IED threat, including best tactics, training procedures and the latest technological counter-measures.
