Remus - Hadrian Bondor

Born on 19 June 1967, Major General Remus - Hadrian Bondor embraced the military profession in 1981 after his admission as a student at the Military High School. 

Commissioned as an Air Defence Missiles (ADM) and Artillery officer in 1988, his first assignment on active duty was with the 66th Air Defence Artillery (ADA) Regiment as a Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition Platoon Leader.

From 1989 to 2002 his appointments were with the newly established 50st ADM Regiment where he served as Platoon leader, Launching Battery Commander and Staff Officer. 

In 2002 he assumed duties as Chief Operations and Training Plans within 5th ADA Brigade HQ where, for six months in 2004, acted as ACOS OPS. In the same year, he rejoined 50th ADM Regiment due to his selection as Chief of Staff 1st ADM Battalion. 

Following graduation from the Command and General Staff College, in July 2007, he assumed command of the 385th Mountain Artillery Battalion/61st Mountain Brigade. 

After 37 months of command, MG Bondor was assigned Chief Training Plans Bureau, 4th Infantry Division HQ. In March 2015 and August 2016, he was successively promoted Chief of Training Section and ACOS G-7 Training. 

From September 2017 to January 2018, he was Acting Chief of Staff with the 2nd Infantry Division. Between February 2018 and June 2019, he assumed command of the 15th Mechanized Brigade. In June 2019 MG Bondor was selected as Director of Management to Joint Force Command Naples. 

Upon returning from Naples, in July 2022, MG Bondor was appointed Chief Strategic Planning Directorate. In this period, between July 2023 and June 2024, he was also Acting Deputy Chief of Defence for Operations and Training.

MG Bondor is a graduate of the Faculty of Electrotechnics and Informatics with the title of Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Military Science from National Defence University. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the US Army War College, Carlisle Pennsylvania, where he completed a Master of Strategic Studies and the Joint Warfighting Advanced Studies program. 

His military education includes the Air Defence Artillery Basic, Advance and Staff Officer Courses, Advanced Joint Staff Officer Course, United Nations International Military Observer and Staff Officer Course, Introduction to NATO and Land Forces Command Course. 

MG Bondor’s awards and decorations include three Honorary Signs in Service of the Country (XV, XX, and XXV), Officer of the "Faithfull Service” National Order, the Medals of Honour of the Romanian Armed Forces, Romanian Defence Staff, and Romanian Land Forces, and the Medal of Merit “In the Service of Romanian Armed Forces” third class. 

He is married to Adriana Monica, and they have a son, Bogdan.
