The North Atlantic Council has approved the nomination by the President of the French Republic of Air Force General Jean-Paul Paloméros as Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.

General Paloméros is currently serving as the Chief of Staff of the French Air Force. He will take up his new duties at the end of September 2012 at Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.

General Paloméros will be taking over from Air Force General Stéphane Abrial. Throughout his command, which began in 2009, General Abrial contributed actively to the adaptation of the Atlantic Alliance’s structures, concepts, resources, training assets and defence planning process. The Council wishes to express its deep appreciation to General Abrial, on behalf of the governments of the NATO countries.
