Secretary General Congratulates Mr. Richard C. Holbrooke on Receipt of the First Manfred Wörner Medal

The Secretary General warmly congratulates Mr. Richard C. Holbrooke for the receipt of the first Manfred Wörner Medal. The Medal was awarded to Mr. Holbrooke yesterday by the German Defence Minister, Mr. Volker Rühe, in recognition of his role as peace mediator in ending the war in the former Yugoslavia. The Manfred Wörner Award, named after the late Secretary General, is awarded to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to peace and freedom in Europe.
