NATO Defense College senior course visits NATO HQ
On 30 october 2012, senior officers and civilian officials of NATO Defense College visited NATO HQ in Brussels to meet top NATO officials and receive expert briefings. The visit offered course participants an opportunity to exchange opinions and ideas while expanding their knowledge of NATO’s broader agenda.
The day began with a presentation by Gen. Knud Bartels, Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee. Gen. Bartels delivered a lively and informative lecture on NATO’s current operations from a unique military perspective. As was the case with all speakers, Gen. Bartels divided his time equally between answering challenging questions and addressing the group.

Participants reflected on the day as an amazing opportunity to engage with decision makers one-on-one in a frank and honest atmosphere. In the words of one participant, "the college is a balance of classroom and field. This sort of exercise exemplifies that."
Located in Rome, NATO Defense College offers strategic-level courses on politico-military issues designed to prepare selected personnel for NATO and NATO-related appointments. The College’s mission is to contribute to the effectiveness and cohesion of the Alliance by developing its role as a major centre of education, study and research on transatlantic issues.
