The International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) was very pleased to host its annual training seminar at NATO Headquarters in Brussels from 20 to 24 January 2025. For the second year running, the seminar – a key event for NATO’s external audit community – brought together experts from several Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), providing a valuable framework for learning and dialogue.

IBAN’s management and staff, alongside Ms Adina Mueffke and Ms Marioara Andronic from the NATO Office of Resources (NOR)

Some of the distinguished speakers who came to share their expertise were:

  • Mr Gene Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States and Head of the US Government Accountability Office (GAO)
  • Ms Fabienne Colignon, Chair of the Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSAS Board)
  • Ms Adina Mueffke and Ms Marioara Andronic, from the NATO Office of Resources (NOR)
  • Ms France Théry, Ms Margot Daniélou and Mr Ludovic Fragnol, from France’s Cour des comptes
  • Ms Lilian Ndianefo and Mr Jamie Patterson, from the United Kingdom’s National Audit Office (NAO)
  • Ms Aneta Modzelewska and Mr Michał Dudek, from Poland’s Najwyższa Izba Kontroli (NIK), representing the chairmanship of the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA)

One of the major milestones of the event was the launch of the implementation of the IBAN Auditor Competency Framework, which is based on international standard ISSAI 150 on Auditor Competence. IBAN member Mr Sébastien Lepers, who organized the event, gave a presentation on the practical implications of the framework for NATO’s external auditors.

The seminar was a chance to once again showcase the advantages of sharing best practices and developing skills within the International Board of Auditors for NATO. A huge thanks to all the speakers and participants who contributed to making the event a great success.

See you for the next edition in 2026!
