NATO Secretary General reaffirms Alliance unity in the face of security challenges
Arriving at the German Atlantic Association 'NATO Talk 2021' conference in Berlin on Friday (19 November 2021), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg commended Germany on its contributions to NATO.
“Germany is a key Ally”, the Secretary General said, “and what Germany does makes a difference”.
The Secretary General expressed NATO solidarity with Allies Poland, Latvia and Lithuania, faced with the crisis on their border with Belarus. He also reaffirmed Allied unity in addressing Russia’s military build-up at the borders with Ukraine. “We are firm, we are united at the same time we are ready to talk to Russia to reduce tensions and make sure that we prevent any escalation of the situation”, he said.
After the Conference, the Secretary General will meet the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
