NATO Secretary General’s visit to the United States to celebrate NATO’s 70th anniversary

The NATO Secretary General, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg will travel to the United States, Washington DC, on 2-4 April 2019. The Secretary General will chair the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs (3-4 April 2019), celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Alliance, and will have a series of engagements ahead of the ministerial meeting.
On 2 April 2019, the Secretary General will have a bilateral meeting with the President of the United States, the Hon. Donald Trump, at the White House.
On 3 April, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg will address a Joint Meeting of the two Houses of the United States Congress, on Capitol Hill. The Secretary General will also meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States, The Hon. Nancy Pelosi, and other bipartisan leaders.
On the same day, NATO Secretary General will give a speech at the conference “NATO Engages: The Alliance at 70”, co-organized by the Atlantic Council, the German Marshall Fund and the Munich Security Conference in partnership with NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division.
Mr. Stoltenberg will also have a bilateral meeting with the Secretary of State, Mr. Michael R. Pompeo.
In the evening, the Secretary General will participate in a reception hosted by the US Secretary of State, Mr. Michael R. Pompeo, to celebrate NATO’s 70th anniversary.
On 4 April, the Secretary General will chair the meeting of the North Atlantic Council in Ministers’ of Foreign Affairs session at the State Department.
