Statement by the NATO Secretary General on the launch of a ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)
I strongly condemn North Korea’s new ballistic missile test. This is a further breach of multiple UN Security Council Resolutions, undermining regional and international security.
Recently, I visited NATO’s regional partners, Japan and the Republic of Korea, and together we urged North Korea to refrain from further provocations, and abandon its nuclear and missile programmes. I repeat that call today.
North Korea needs to re-engage in a credible and meaningful dialogue with the international community.
