NATO-Russia Council launches new Consolidated Glossary of Cooperation
The 29 Chiefs of Defence of the NATO Russia Council Military Representatives (NRC-MR) met in Brussels today and assessed the progress of the Work Plan for 2011 in the agreed areas of cooperation (Logistics, Combating Terrorism, Search and Rescue at Sea, Counter Piracy, Theatre Missile Defence and Military Academic Exchanges) and the related military activities. Then, they looked at ways to deepen, upgrade and widen the cooperation in the coming future.
Following the discussions and Adm. Giampaola Di Poala, Chairman of the NRC – MR and Army General Nikolay Makarov, the Russain Federation Chief of Defence assumed formally the joint and general editorship of the NATO-Russia Council Consolidated Glossary of Cooperation (NRC-CGC). This glossary contains over 7000 agreed terms in Russian and English and covers almost all key areas of NATO-Russia political and military cooperation such as counter-terrorism, counter-piracy, logistics, military-to-military cooperation, etc..
For Admiral Di Paola, “The Glossary symbolizes the genuine efforts which NATO and Russia have made to understand each other better and to work together at a new level of cooperation towards a true strategic partnership. Ten years after the first edition of this glossary, we have today seven times more agreed words, which demonstrates that our common vocabulary is growing, as is our relationship.”
