(As delivered)

Prime Minister Luxon, dear Christopher,
It’s good to see you here. Welcome to the NATO Summit.
It’s great to have you here, because New Zealand is really a highly valued partner for NATO.
We appreciate the fact that you attend the NATO Summit and we are working together on many issues, reflecting the fact that security is not regional, security is global.

What happens in Europe, matters for the Asia Pacific and what happens there, matters for us. And that’s something that we see not least in the war in Ukraine, where China, North Korea are propping up Russia’s illegal war efforts in Ukraine.
We also welcome the practical support we have and the fact that we have an Individually Tailored Partnership Programme, where we outline how we can work together on issues like technology, cyber, but also the security impact of climate change.

So once again, welcome.  I very much appreciate our partnership.
