NATO Secretary General meets German Chancellor in Berlin

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited Berlin on 22 October for discussions with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle about the upcoming NATO Summit in Lisbon and the new Strategic Concept to be adopted.

At the invitation of the Green Parliamentary Group, the Secretary General also addressed German Parliamentarians at the Reichstag building.

NATO was, is, and will remain an instrument for peace,” the Secretary General said. “Through our operations, we are defending peace. Through our cooperative approach to security, we are promoting peace. Through our engagement in crisis management, we are preserving peace.”
