North Macedonia requested assistance via NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC). The EADRCC is NATO’s principal disaster response mechanism. The Centre operates on a 24/7 basis, coordinating requests from NATO Allies and partners, as well as offers of assistance to cope with the consequences of major crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is yet another demonstration of Allied solidarity and mutual support. The Czech Republic has already provided critical medical supplies to Italy and Spain. Next week, NATO Defence Ministers will hold an extraordinary meeting by secure video conference to follow-up the decisions taken by Foreign Ministers less than two weeks ago. They will review the actions NATO and Allies are taking in response to the pandemic, and decide on our next steps.
