Bernt Iver Ferdinand Brovold

Lieutenant General Brovold was born on 25 May 1954, in Trondheim. He entered the Army in 1972 and he graduated from the Army Military Academy in 1979.
Brovold has graduated from the National staff and Defence college. In the period 1993 - 1997 the General was the Chief Land and Amphibious Operations Centre / Regional Headquarters North. Thereafter his order took him to Belgium as Deputy J-5, Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Force / Planning Staff.
From 2000 to 2002, he was Chief Land and Amphibious Operations Centre / Planning Staff in Stavanger, before he in 2002 became 2nd in Cd, Regional Command Southern Norway in Trondheim.
In 2003 Brovold was appointed as the Commander of the Norwegian Home Guard.
In August 2009, he took command of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters (NJHQ) until 2011.
Lt Gen Bernt Brovold resides in Trondheim and he has two grown up children.
