General Ľubomír Bulík

Gen Dipl.Eng. Ľubomír BULÍK, CSc. was born on 22 September 1957 in Turzovka. Following the graduation from two-year officer’s school in Vyškov na Morave he joined the army in 1977 as a Junior Lieutenant. In 1981 he graduated from the Military Academy with the degree “engineer”.
By 1984 he occupied the basic command and staff positions. From 1985 he acted as a university lecturer and he concurrently fulfilled the tasks as a Senior Officer Specialist. In 1993 he completed his external research dissertation work in area of the operational art and general tactics. In the period 1993 - 2004 he worked at the Ministry of Defence on the positions of Director of Division, Chief of Staff and General Director of Department. (Apart from the short breaks during his studies abroad.)
In 1995 he attended the Bundeswehr General Staff School in Hamburg. From March to August 1998 he worked at the Institute of Peace Time Research and Security Studies in Hamburg. In 2000 he attended the language course at the Military Language Institute Lackland AFB in Texas, USA.
On 1st January 2007 he was promoted by the President of the Slovak Republic to the rank of General. He published a lot of articles in own country and abroad on security and defence issues and in the field of defence planning.
Ľubomír Bulík is married and he has two sons. He is fluent in German, English and Russian.
