Colonel Christos Gkamas, Gender Advisor, NATO International Military Staff

Colonel Christos Gkamas graduated from the Hellenic Military Academy in 1997 as an Artillery Officer. He has served as a Commander in all the respective levels of Command foreseen for his Rank and as Staff Officer in Division and Corps level. He is a graduate of the Hellenic National Defence College. 

His experience in working in an international environment includes 4 years service in NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - GR, as Staff Officer in G3 Branch, and a deployment in Afghanistan, working in ISAF Civil Military Cooperation, as well as participation in several NATO trainings and exercises.  

Colonel Gkamas was appointed as Staff Officer in International Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations Section in the Cooperation Policy & Programmes Branch of the Cooperative Security Division of the International Military Staff at NATO HQ in September 2022. After receiving the respective training, he also became the Division’s Gender Focal Point. He was appointed as the Gender Advisor for the International Military Staff in September 2024.

Apart from Greek he also speaks English, Spanish and Italian. He is married and has a son.
