Colonel Ivica Ampov

Colonel Ivica Ampov currently holds the position of Military Representative of Republic of North Macedonia to NATO and EU.

Born - 31.10.1969 in Kratovo.

Commissioned in 1994 after the graduation from the Military Academy in Skopje.

Promoted to Colonel in 2012.

During his career he has served in various professional positions in the Armed Forces and MoD. He started his military career in MP Corps (1994-2001). From MP PLT leader, through MP School Commander to MP Bn Deputy Commander in 2001. Changed MOS to Intelligence and served (2002-2012) as CI and CT Officer, Chief of CI and CT Department and Chief J-2/G-2/General Staff of the Army of Republic of Macedonia. Later, Col. Ampov served as Chief J-5/General Staff of the Army of Republic of Macedonia (2012-2015), Chief of Staff/TRADOC and Deputy Commander TRADOC (2015-2017). Prior to assuming the current position as a MILREP, Col. Ampov served as Director of Military Security and Inteligence Service (MSSI)/MoD (2022), Advisor for Military and Defense Affairs in the Cabinet of the Minister/MoD (2020-2022), Defense Attaché in USA (2018-2020) and Deputy Director of MSSI (2017-2018).

He was deployed in Afghanistan 2011/2012 as Deputy Senior Military Advisor for ANA Military Police School-Kabul and Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff for A-5 Adriatic Charter Force Contingent, ISAF/NTM – Afghanistan National Army (ANA), Military Police School-Kabul/Darulaman-Camp Julien.

Colonel Ampov started his military education through Military Air Force High School and Military Academy in former Yugoslavia. Graduated from Military Academy in Skopje (1994) as Honor graduate. Accomplished US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA (2004).  In 2009, Colonel Ampov received his MA in International Security Affairs from the College for International Security Affairs, National Defense University, Washington DC, USA.

During his professional career Col. Ampov has received numerous MoD/Armed Forces merit recognitions and performance awards.

Colonel Ampov is married to Marina. They have two sons – Mario and Filip. They live in Skopje.
