Vice Admiral Konstantinos Karageorgis was born on February 23, 1962 in Athens. He joined the Hellenic Navy Naval Academy in 1979 and graduated in 1983, as an Ensign. During his career he was specialized in the areas of Operations, Human Resources Management, Training, Security, and Navigation / Shipping.

Career Profile:

At sea he served in various ships of the Hellenic Fleet. He commanded the Patrol Boat HS PANAGOPOULOS III (1985-86), the Gun Boat HS POLEMISTIS (1996-97), the Fast Patrol Boat HS STARAKIS (1997-99) and the Frigates HS SALAMIS (2005) and HS NIKIFOROS FOKAS (2006-07).

His staff assignments include: Director of the Communication Information SystemDepartment  and  the  Human  Resources  Management  Department  at  the Hellenic Navy General Staff and director of the Crisis Management Center at the Hellenic National Defense General Staff. He also served as Naval Attaché in Paris, France, Commander of the Fast Patrol Boats Command and deputy Commander of the Hellenic Naval Academy.

In March 2014 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and he was assigned the duties of the Deputy Commander of the Hellenic Navy Logistic Support Command. In March  2015  he  assumed  the  Command  of  the  Naval  Training  and  Education Command. In October 2015 he was promoted to Vice Admiral and was appointed by the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense as the Commander in Chief of the Hellenic fleet. On 28 July 2017 he was appointed as the Military Representative of Greece to the EU and on the 1 August 2018 he assumed his duties as the Military Representative of Greece to NATO Military Committee.

Education:

From 2014 to 2015 he successfully concluded the e-learning education program on Shipping and Maritime business Administration and on Shipping Logistics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He holds master degrees in Public Administration from the Harvard, Kennedy School  of  Government  (2004),  in  International  Affairs  and  Policy  from the  Centre d’ Etudes Stratégiques et Diplomatiques in Athens (2002) and in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey California (1992).

He  is  also  a  graduate  of  the  Hellenic  Naval  War  College  and  the  Hellenic National Defense College.

He speaks fluently English and French.

Family status:

He is married to Mrs. Paraskevi Sotiropoulou, physician ORL surgeon, and has two children.
