General Wiesław Kukuła - (born 16 March 1972 in Częstochowa) started his military career in 1992 as an officer cadet in Military Academy of the Signal Corps in Zegrze.

In 1996, after being promoted to 2nd lieutenant he served in the 1st Special Forces Regiment (currently the Special Forces Group) where he held positions from platoon leader to the chief of staff of the unit.

In 2003 he was deployed with Iraqi Freedom Operation to Iraq. In the same year he successfully graduated from Military University of Technology with master’s degree in electronics and telecommunication.

In  2006 he was appointed to the position in the Special Operations Forces Command, where he was responsible for planning and controlling special operations, as well as programming the development of the Special Forces.

In 2012 he took over the command of the Special Forces Group. He held this position until 2016 when he was appointed to the position of Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces.

On 29th of November 2016 the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda promoted Wiesław Kukuła to the rank of brigadier general. Two years later in September 2018 he received promotion to the rank of major general. On 5th of November 2021 he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general.

On 6th of February 2023 the President designated lieutenant general Kukuła to the position of the General Commander of the Polish Armed Forces.

On 10th of October 2023 the Commander-in-chief of the Polish Armed Forces entrusted lieutenant general Kukuła with the responsibilities of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces.

On 9 November 2023, by the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, he was promoted to the rank of General.

General Wiesław Kukuła is interested in unconventional warfare history, project management and photography. He is married and has two sons.
