Todd J. Brown is the Director of the NATO Office of Security (NOS). He is the principal security advisor to the NATO Secretary General and the North Atlantic Council (NAC) and has the overall responsibility for the development and implementation of security policies for NATO member and partner nations. The NOS is comprised of three branches; Protective Security Branch, Security Intelligence Branch, and the Policy Coordination, Branch. The NOS also administers the Close Protection Unit assigned to the Secretary General.

In addition, Mr. Brown serves as Chairman on several high level committees interacting with senior NATO and civil/military officials on security matters impacting NATO and its partners. The NOS is responsible for negotiating and implementing Security Agreements with non-NATO nations, responsible for assessing accreditation and maintaining compliance of NATO security protocols.

Mr. Brown is a career member of the United States Senior Foreign Service, having served in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security since 1987. During his career in the Department of State he has undertaken numerous positions of leadership both in Washington, DC and overseas.  His overseas postings include; Islamabad, Pakistan; Amman, Jordan; Rabat, Morocco; Baghdad, Iraq and Cairo, Egypt,. Prior to assuming his duties as Director NOS he served as the Executive Director to Overseas Security Advisor Council, an organization that builds private and public sector security partnerships, as well as the Special Agent in Charge of the Washington DC Field Office.

Mr. Brown holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Western Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.  He achieved proficiency in Arabic language while attending a one year program at the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, VA.  He received certification from the Kellogg School of Business’ Executive Security Leadership program at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Mr. Brown is the recipient of several superior and meritorious awards, the majority of which occurred during assignment to high threat environments.

Mr. Brown is married to Soodi Brown and they have a son and a daughter.
