The Airborne Warning and Control System, known as AWACS, can detect aircraft more than 400 kilometres away. Flying in Turkey, the AWACS aircraft can monitor the busy airspace in Iraq and Syria. This helps to make the skies safer and the Global Coalition air operations more efficient.
