A chance to celebrate the American men and women who answered their country’s call. This is a message for you.
Your patriotism, courage and sacrifice are the foundation on which our freedom is built.
From the beaches of Normandy,
to the fall of the Iron Curtain,
to defending our way of life today.
I pay tribute to all of you.
Including those who stand shoulder to shoulder in NATO with your European brothers and sisters.
Let me also thank your families who have sacrificed so much.
I have always been deeply impressed by the American personnel I meet.
You take pride in your duty,
put service before self,
and stand ready to protect, with honour and integrity.
You represent the best of the United States.
