NATO Secretary General's remarks
at the unveiling ceremony of the 2018 Summit logo
(As delivered)
So dear friends, good evening, it’s great to see you all and together with Prime Minister Charles Michel, I am very pleased to be here to unveil the logo for our 2018 NATO Summit here in Brussels.
The design represents our hosts, our new building, and the unity between the 29 members of the Alliance: the black, yellow and red of the Belgian tricolour standing out against the NATO blue. The sweeping lines of our new building, an emblem of a strong, adaptable Alliance. Itself symbolizing the interlocking fingers of hands across the Atlantic. And reflecting the deep bond between all the Allies of Europe and North America.
For 50 years, Belgium has hosted the NATO Alliance. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Prime Minsiter, to thank you, Charles. And to thank Belgium and the people of Belgium for their hospitality and their warmth, hosting us for so many years. And I would also like to thank you for being the host for the 2018 Summit in July next year. Where leaders will meet to agree how NATO will continue to adapt.
To meet the challenges we face in the 21st Century.
So we look forward to a very successful meeting in July.
So once again, many thanks Charles, and thank you for being with us today.
