Good afternoon everybody.
It is an honour to be here with you today.

It is great to see so many service men and women, from so many NATO Allies, working together as one.

You come from the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and many other Allies, and of course Turkey, to contribute to this important mission.

For almost two years, our Patriot deployment has reinforced Turkey’s air defences. And helped protect and defend Turkey’s territory and citizens against missile attacks. Because Turkey's border is also NATO's border.

Collective defence is at the heart of NATO.

All for one. And one for all.

Your mission is more important than ever. And Allies remain committed to this vital mission.

Because today, we face many challenges from many directions.

I know your work is not easy. I can see how hot it gets. They told me that today it's not even that hot! And you must always be on your guard.

But you are making a difference. Your very presence has deterred missile attacks.

I thank you for your professionalism. And for your dedication.

What you do keeps NATO strong.
What you do keeps Turkey safe.

NATO will protect and defend all allies against any threat. Turkey has been a staunch Ally for over 60 years. And NATO is here to protect and defend Turkey. Because solidarity is at the heart of our Alliance.

So thank you very much indeed to all of you.
